This website is also for congregations and religious professionals in search of pulpit supply and shorter contract work, such as workshop facilitation, retreat leadership, liturgists and musicians. To that end, Widening the Circle offers what the search industry calls “passive targeting” by listing industry professionals available for such work, as well as congregations who are known to be either lay-led or have upcoming departures of current ministers and staff. Some may be retiring, others have recently accepted jobs elsewhere, and still others may be approaching a sabbatical period in their ministries.
One paramount gap Widening the Circle fills is for congregations who, as a result of current cloaked search processes, may have little to no notice that their minister has accepted another call and is departing within a few short weeks.
